Since its founding in 2004, DOWE has experienced steady growth. The following events have been particularly significant to its success:

2002-2003

With extensive experience and his own search for suitable teamwear for himself and his clients, Martin Vetter, the Managing Director of DOWE, identified a gap in the market for printed team clothing. The market lacked high functionality, well-designed cuts, and optimal coloring.

2004

Inquiry with a manufacturer on the Iberian Peninsula and production of the first samples in custom cuts and materials. The latest HighFit fabrics are used.

2005

Material adjustments, commissioning fabric manufacturers to develop suitable high-end fabrics, improving cuts, and the launch of DOWE Engineering.

2006

Start of Collaboration with Outlast and Windtex

Development of the well-known DOWE Outlast pad, including testing for long-distance races, 24-hour races, multi-day events, and stage races.

Initiation and testing phase of the first DOWE carbon fabric.

Completion of the first series of DOWE bib shorts. After 2 years, the initial model was ready for series production, and testing and launch began with well-known cyclists of the time.

A major campaign to acquire and connect with clubs and companies started after Eurobike, quickly bringing the advantages and innovations to cyclists.

2007

Founding of the DOWE Sportswear Team

Relocation of production to Slovenia.

Introduction of nanoprinting technology, enhancing fabric functionality and improving color accuracy and vibrancy.

Enhancement of the Series 1 fabrics to the HydroHighFit category. The high breathability and quality standards of this entry-level fabric have been maintained by DOWE to this day.

This material mix represents an optimal approach for equipping athletes.

Further, the latest functional fabric on the market is tested and developed. The first generation of DOWE carbon fabric, featuring an increased number of carbon threads, is created. This innovative fabric was developed in collaboration with an Italian manufacturer specifically for cycling and running sports.

2008

Development and Market Launch of the DOWE Ultra Baselayer Shirt

The baselayer shirt provides warmth in winter and cooling in summer.

Initial development of jerseys for downhill (DH) and freeride, using breathable fabrics such as ND-Performance1 for efficient moisture and vapor transport.

First concepts for a freeride-specific pair of pants are developed.

2009

Introduction of the DOWE Freeride Shorts

Expansion of the DOWE Sportswear team into the triathlon and long-distance sectors. The first phase of product development for long-distance triathlon suits is completed, with the market launch at Eurobike 2009.

Launch of the DOWE Fit System. Customers can order jerseys tailored to their specific needs in a single order (not a one-size-fits-all jersey, but a jersey cut suited to their purpose and shape).

At Eurobike 2009, the Basic, Superform, and Pro jersey cuts were introduced to reach a broader audience. Instead of a single jersey for all, there are multiple jersey cuts for various applications.

Additionally, running shirts, functional polos, and casual jersey cuts were added, with slight changes in fabrics and designs.

2010

Continuation of Fabric and Quality Refinement

Introduction of the DOWE Functional System and the THREE-LAYER System.

Overhaul of the entire DOWE system, incorporating many new innovations.

Running apparel was updated with hydroactive fabric and redesigned.

Due to the high demand from clubs that could choose various versions of our products and the functional system, the DOWE Fit System introduced in 2009 was highly sought after.

As a result, production was expanded to Lithuania.

2012

Revamp and Revision of Fabrics

Increased focus on research and development for the running and triathlon sectors, specifically for middle and short-distance events. Introduction of new cuts and fabrics.

Launch of the DOWE jacket collection, including windbreakers, winter jackets, and functional hoodies.

Integration into the bicycle retailer collections sector.

One of the Biggest Development Years Since the Founding of DOWE Sportswear

Advancements in long and ultra-distance segments. The DOWE bib shorts are equipped with the first Ultra II Pad. Fabrics are upgraded to the ultimate PowerLycra II, raising performance to a whole new level.

DOWE Pro cuts are further refined in collaboration with elite athletes such as Ben Ziehoff, Franz Preihs, Stefan Schlegel, and others.

Tim Lange successfully competes in the new DOWE triathlon suit, setting the foundation for all future developments in this area.

This allows bike retailers to build their store collections with minimal effort and maximum functionality.

A jacket that combines the softness of a softshell with the functionality of a hardshell, providing warmth or cooling depending on the external temperature. It represents a new generation for both sports and leisure.
