The TuS youth attended the Challenge in Roth and participated in the Challenge for All.
Already on Friday, July 5th, the bikes could be checked in, just like the pros do the evening before the race. Afterward, the participants had the chance to get acquainted with the atmosphere. The finish line on the big stage heightened the anticipation for Saturday.
In the race for girls in the Schüler B category, Fabienne Giesa, Leni Hafermalz, and Elisa Roth participated. In the boys’ Schüler B race, Levi Bauer competed and secured 13th place out of 22 participants, with a time of 26:28 minutes. The girls, competing in the same distances—200m swimming, 5 km biking, and 1 km running—achieved the following results: Fabienne Giesa finished in 6th place with 27:01 minutes, Leni Hafermalz in 7th place with 27:02, and Elisa Roth in 18th place with 29:45. A total of 28 athletes participated in this race.
In the Schüler A race, Kimi Bauer and Laetitia Sophie Aring took to the start line. Among the 17 participants, Laetitia Sophie Aring secured 4th place with a time of 39:42, completing the 400m swim, 10 km bike ride, and 2.5 km run. The winner of this race was Emilia Waugh from the Alnwick Dolphins UK, finishing in 39:18. The race had a slight international flair. “The competitors in this race were very strong, but I’m happy I managed to finish under 40 minutes,” said Laetitia Sophie Aring.
With 19 other male competitors, Kimi Bauer took his place at the start, securing 12th place in the Schüler A category with a time of 45:55 minutes.
In Roth, the finisher medals were only awarded during the prize ceremony, where all the athletes were called back on stage and honored in front of the assembled audience. This small celebration marked the end of a successful triathlon day.
On Sunday morning in Roth, the alarm clock rang early as the TuS youth were ready to cheer on their long-distance favorites. At 6:30 AM sharp, they were at the starting line, soaking in the atmosphere of Challenge Roth. Five minutes after the start of the professional men’s race, the professional women began their race. The canal’s shoreline and the bridge were packed, with about 200,000 spectators expected. After the men completed their 3.8 km swim, it was up onto the bridge to see who would be the first to come out of the transition zone with their bike. After the cycling spectacle, it was time for breakfast. Then, they headed to Solar Hill, where they experienced an incredible racing atmosphere. The day continued with the Canyon street party on the running course, followed by a visit to the triathlon expo before the finish line. There was no time for boredom. The trip for the TuS youth was an absolute success.
