Interview with Sportaktiv - the optimal bike shorts

Interview with Sportaktiv:

Martin Vetter talks about the optimal cycling shorts

We are delighted that our founder and director Martin Vetter was interviewed by Sportaktiv! In the detailed article titled "The Sore Spot: How to Find the Optimal Cycling Shorts," Martin shares valuable insights and tips on choosing the right cycling shorts – one of the most crucial pieces of equipment for comfortable cycling.

The article focuses on the central question: What makes truly good cycling shorts? Martin Vetter emphasizes that the shorts often determine whether cycling becomes a passion or a torment. The focus is therefore on the right cut, material, fit, and especially the chamois, which plays a key role as the link between rider and bike.

In the interview, Martin explains when close-fitting shorts (like bib shorts) or baggy shorts are appropriate – depending on the area of use, comfort requirements, and personal preferences. Especially for long tours or athletic use, tighter models have clear advantages due to their aerodynamics, low noise, and better cooling. Baggy shorts, on the other hand, score with robustness, storage space, and insulation – ideal for trail fans and descents.

Another highlight of the report: the choice of the right chamois – whether "roulade" (thin) or "steak" (thick) – is ultimately individual but enormously decisive for the riding experience. Beginners, in particular, should not shy away from trying different combinations to find their personal "perfect match."

We thank Nicole Hofstetter and the Sportaktiv team for the interview and the great reporting!
