Lukas Kaufmann is set for his season highlight

The 32-year-old father of two, Lukas Kaufmann, has another great love besides his wife: cycling. Thanks to his great sponsors, the Kronstorf native has turned this passion into his profession. The extreme athlete has experienced a lot since then – but in 2026, he has set his sights on the Ultracycling World Championship 2026 as a major season highlight: the Race Around Austria.

The race is considered one of the toughest cycling races in Europe. Participating athletes must complete approximately 2,200 kilometers and 30,000 meters of elevation gain around Austria on roads near the border. The start and finish are located in Lukas' home state, in St. Georgen im Attergau in Upper Austria.

Lukas Kaufmann, who constantly talks about how to achieve one's goals in his lectures throughout Austria, has also set a clear goal for 2026: victory.

However, Lukas Kaufmann could not manage the journey around Austria alone. He is supported around the clock by a 12-member team. The crew ensures that the extreme athlete is optimally supported and cared for during the race.

"I've had such a great team for years that accompanies me on my adventures. Without this help, it wouldn't be feasible," says extreme athlete Lukas Kaufmann.

His long journey around Austria should only be interrupted by a few and as short as possible sleep breaks. Because one thing is clear: Lukas Kaufmann wants to get back to St. Georgen im Attergau as quickly as possible – and realize his great dream of victory there.

Lukas will start the race on Tuesday at 8:38 PM.
