Tobias Steinhart wins the Bundesliga overall standings

This year, the final race of the international MTB Bundesliga already took place at the beginning of August in Winterberg (Sauerland). For Tobias Steinhart of Team Dowe Simplon from RSG Zollern-Alb, this race was a very special one: for the first time, he finished the race series as overall winner: in the last Bundesliga race, the RSG rider only finished tenth, but secured the overall victory.

The race demanded a lot from the riders. Dusty descents caused difficult visibility, while the high speed and challenging course cost a lot of energy. "The start was solid, I was able to make up several places right away. That was also important, because in the descents you sometimes couldn't see anything due to the dust," Steinhart described the conditions. As the race progressed, he rode for a long time together with a competitor and consistently stayed in the top ten. In the last laps of the race, Steinhart tried again to pull away from his companion. "I then tried to shake him off and unfortunately pushed myself to the limit," the RSG rider recalls the decisive phase. The last laps became tough again as a result. Nevertheless, Steinhart was able to maintain his position and brought home tenth place safely. This also paved the way for overall victory in the MTB Bundesliga - an outstanding success for the Team Dowe Simplon rider and RSG Zollern-Alb.

Maximilian Wagenstetter also put in a strong performance, finishing the race in Winterberg in sixth place. After a tough week of training, Wagenstetter went into the season finale with accordingly tired legs. Nevertheless, he managed to hold his own well in the field from the start and consistently keep up with the leading group over the race distance. With the results from Winterberg, Team Dowe Simplon put a successful end to the MTB Bundesliga season. For RSG Zollern-Alb, the overall Bundesliga victory also marks another highlight of successful work in competitive sports over the past few years. The focus is now already on the upcoming tasks - among others, Maximilian Wagenstetter will represent Germany at the upcoming World Championships in Olympic Cross Country in Val di Sole, Italy.
