Lukas Kaufmann from Kronstorf delivered a strong performance at this year's 29th GLOCKNERKÖNIG, which saw a record field of over 3000 participants, achieving an excellent 8th place on the demanding Ultra-course.
The Ultra-distance, with over 640 male and female cyclists, covered 28.4 kilometers and demanded everything from the participants with 1,812 meters of altitude. Kaufmann completed the course in 1:31:11 hours. The start signal was given on Sunday at 07:00 AM.
On the legendary ascent to the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, Kaufmann held his own in a top-class field of participants and was able to achieve a top-10 result with a consistently strong performance.
"It was a great race today. I spontaneously registered for this event on Friday. The view at the finish, the atmosphere before and during the race was fantastic," said the father of two enthusiastically after the race.
With 8th place, Lukas Kaufmann once again underlines his qualities on long and challenging mountain routes and can look back on a successful competition day at the Grossglockner.
Preparations for the next events continue for Lukas. Another series of lectures is planned for autumn; those interested can find out more at lukas@lukas-kaufmann.com.
