All KTM Youngsters took part in the national youngster sighting in Wombach. Paulina was victorious twice, and there was also another podium finish.

This time, the national youngsters’ selection made a stop in Wombach. With Timo Brandl, Niklas Look, Simon Potstada, Paulina Weigelt and Nico Wollenberg all five KTM youngsters were present in Lower Franconia. The technical discipline on the program for all of them this time was a downhill on Saturday, before the cross-country race followed as usual on Sunday.

Paulina coped best with the narrow downhill course. No one came down faster, so she won the U17 competition. Simon was also very satisfied, after a sixth place in the first attempt, he could even improve to fifth place in the second run. Directly in front of him in fourth place was Timo, who was able to show himself from his best side again after breaking off due to health reasons at the last national young talent sighting. The third U17 rider Nico unfortunately risked too much in a turn and drove into the bushes. In the second run he drove too close to a tree and lost time, so that in the end it was only enough for 23rd place. In the U15 Niclas had a good first run, while in the second run a problem with the pedals slowed him down a bit. Overall, eleventh place was on the scoreboard.

In the races on Sunday was as usual with Niclas the youngest of the youngsters as the first challenged. Motivated, the 14-year-old quickly made it to the front, but due to a crash he fell back and lost the connection to the top. Niclas was very annoyed about the fall, but then fought his way forward place by place to eighth place. After the race he was satisfied and proud of his fighting spirit and performance, but also sad because he had hoped for more.

In the U17 race Timo used his good position in the front row and lined up in front. Until the last lap a constant high speed was driven in the leading quartet. Timo had to let go briefly, but bit back again and sprinted to second place, with which he was very satisfied.

For Simon the race went unfortunate, because he drove a hole in his coat in the start lap and therefore dragged himself with little air into the tech zone. Since the change took a bit long despite good helpers, the KTM youngster fell far back into the rear third. Simon started a chase to catch up, which went well until he crashed in the third lap during an overtaking attempt. In the end he finished 14th. Five places behind, Nico finished not quite satisfied in 19th place. After gaining a few places in the first lap, he had to give them up again.

Next week three KTM youngsters, Niclas, Nico and Paulina, will start at the famous MTB competition Trophée de France des Jeunes Vététistes (TFJV) in France. They will represent the German colors in Les Menuires. The following week, Paulina, Simon and Paulina are also three KTM Youngsters at the European Junior Championships in Switzerland.
