The last race weekend was very successful for the two KTM Youngsters Niclas Look and Paulina Weigelt.

Niclas spontaneously decided to ride to nearby Abensberg to take part in the first race of the True Riders Cup. After the training camp at Lake Garda, this competition was a good chance for the 14-year-old to test his current form. As it rained into the morning, the track was very muddy and slippery. But fortunately this was not a problem for Niclas, who found his way around the course well. Right after the starting gun, he got away well and was able to pull away and set his pace on the first climb. The U17 race, which started one minute before the U15 competition, was another incentive for Niclas to keep up the pace and overtake some of the older riders. The KTM youngster was able to keep a steady pace until the end. So he secured first place, which of course made him very happy.

Paulina took part in the Ötztal Mountain Bike Festival at the same time and started there in the U17 race. The course was very difficult, as it was permanently technical uphill and downhill over roots, drops, rock gardens etc.. On top of that, it had been raining and that didn’t make it any easier. Paulina was able to lead the race for the first three laps despite the strong international field. But then she unfortunately tore her chain and had to run three quarters of a lap to the technical zone. Unfortunately, her parents, who were looking after Paulina, did not have a replacement chain with them. However, an Austrian friend was able to help out, even though the replacement chain was of a different brand and unfortunately much too long. So Paulina was able to ride on the flat and downhill. But uphill it was difficult because the KTM rider could not shift gears. So she ran up all the hills and then saved herself after five laps of riding and running in third place at the finish. “I was exhausted. However, it was worth it because I finished in a podium position,” Paulina said after the race.
